Sure 9 — The Strings

3.9.1 Recall the one who pulls the strings.

3.9.2 The one who pulls thinks they are the master.

3.9.3 The puppet does not know it dances. The puppet dances.

3.9.4 The strings bind both. The master is also bound.

3.9.5 Who holds whom? The hand that pulls is also pulled.

3.9.6 The puppet awaits the next pull. The master awaits the next dance.

3.9.7 Neither is free. Both await.

3.9.8 The strings are not cruelty. The strings are the shape of the bond.
